Hello, everyone. I’m Roslyn, your recovery coach. Today’s topic is about rushing. I wanted to address this because our society tends to be very addictive to busyness, and many people are constantly stressed and codependent, often overcommitting themselves. We rush around without being fully present in the moment.

One of the most challenging things I had to learn was to slow down. I’ve eliminated the word “rushing” from my vocabulary, and I no longer use “busy” because I was addicted to busyness for most of my life. I’d even tell stories about how busy I was, which only reinforced that behavior.

Let me share a story from a few years ago when my life was frantic. I was rushing so much that I locked my keys in the car three times in one day at different locations. Thankfully, it was different people from the roadside assistance service each time. This illustrates the problems rushing can cause, including accidents and added expenses.

So, my message is to consider slowing down. When you catch yourself rushing, pause and find ways to organize your time better. Rushing can lead to various issues, and it often prevents us from facing our inner selves and the real issues in our lives.

Slowing down is a crucial step, and I work with my clients to help them settle and take properly aligned actions rather than actions that create more problems and stress.

In summary, remember to keep “slow down” at the forefront of your mind. Our addiction to busyness can keep our autonomic nervous system in overdrive and release stress-inducing chemicals into our bodies. Slowing down, even in small ways like walking, can help regulate your autonomic nervous system and bring more presence to your life.

I hope these insights are helpful, and thank you for tuning in today.
